NFL Week 2 Recap - Things look bad for 0-2 starters
Ten teams - Buffalo, Miami, New York Jets, Kansas City, New York Giants, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Atlanta, Oakland and New Orleans - are 0-2. (Three of those teams in the bad AFC East.)
And here's the bad news for them: only five teams (out of 59) since 2000 have rebounded from a 0-2 start to make the playoffs. Since the NFL expanded to a 16-game schedule in 1978, 26 teams that started 0-2 reached the playoffs.
Here's a look at what has gone wrong for each club:
* Buffalo Bills - Offense. Rookie running back Marshawn Lynch has been solid with 154 yards rushing on 37 carries and a TD, but the passing offense has been not good. QB J.P. Losman only has a dismal 251 total yards through the air in two games, and the Bills leading receiver is Roscoe Parrish with 81 yards. Buffalo has 23 first downs to 47 for its opponents.......to read rest of article visit NFL News at the Betting Directory

NFL Football Betting Preview: Ravens - Bengals
The Bengals (-2.5 on WagerWeb.com; O/U: 40.5) have one of the league's top offenses, with a trio unmatched by most teams in quarterback Carson Palmer, running back Rudi Johnson and receiver Chad Johnson. Palmer completed 62.3 percent of his passes last year for a career-high 4,035 yards and 28 touchdowns, while Rudi Johnson rushed for 1,309 yards and 12 TDs and Chad Johnson caught 87 passes for 1,369 yards and seven scores.
Palmer is fully recovered now from his devastating 2005 knee injury, and Chad Johnson, for one, expects big things for himself and the Cincy offense this season.
"I'm bringing sexy back for this year. It's that Ocho Cinco. It's going to be a beautiful season. Trust me, it's going to be a good year," Johnson said.
Offense hasn't been the problem for the Bengals, who have gotten off to fast starts the past two seasons (4-0 in 2005 and 3-0 in 2006) and have beaten the Ravens four of the their defense that caused them to go 8-8 last year.
Defense is the name of the game for the Ravens, who are the defending AFC North 2006 regular season on a tear, going 9-1. Baltimore has arguably the best defensive unit in the league, led by All-Pros Ray Lewis and Ed Reed....to read rest of this article visit NFL News at the Betting Directory

The Big Game: Saints vs. Colts
The Saints won their last three games of the preseason to head into the regular season on a high note, and they will be led into Indianapolis by Drew Brees who had the third-highest quarterback rating in the NFL last season. Brees also has a lot of weapons at his disposal with running backs Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister, and receiver Marques Colston.
The Saints also added youth and experience to the offense with 11-year veteran David Patten joining the team from Washington and rookie Robert Meachem out of Tennessee. Colston was perhaps the biggest surprise of last season, but the receiving corps took a hit after he went down with an injury. There is also pressure on Bush after he had a brilliant second half to his rookie season, showing why he was a Heisman winner and the No. 2 overall pick coming out of college. The Saints' defense was also underrated last season, coming in at 11th in yards allowed per game. However, they were 23rd against the run.....to read rest of article visit NFL News at the Betting Directory.

NFL Preseason: Friday Football Games Betting Previews
Baltimore Ravens (1-2) at Atlanta Falcons (2-1), 7:30 p.m. ET: If you read my article on Monday and bet on the Falcons to cover at home against the Bengals you were a winner, as Atlanta won the game 24-19. QB Joey Harrington was quite solid vs. Cincinnati, going 13-for-24 for 164 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. However, that was against a not-so-good Bengals defense.
The Ravens, meanwhile, looked great in their preseason opener, a 29-3 rout of the Philadelphia Eagles, but have dropped their past two games and haven't scored more than 12 points in either. Baltimore did get some good news this week when Jonathan Ogden was activated off the PUP list and practiced on Tuesday. ...to read rest of article visit NFL news at the Betting Directory

NFL Preseason: Young QB's in Week 4 Spotlight
The final week of NFL preseason action gets underway on Thursday as football teams are making their final cuts. Brady Quinn, Rex Grossman, Matt Leinart and Jay Cutler will all be in the spotlight as the regular season looms. Here's a look at a pair of key Thursday matchups.
Cleveland at Chicago (-4)
This will be the final test for Brady Quinn as the Cleveland Browns head to Soldier Field to face the Chicago Bears, who have one of the best defenses in the league. The Browns' brass has been saying that the rookie quarterback is not going to open the season as a starter, but Quinn has made the decision more difficult with two sparkling performances against the Detroit Lions and the Denver Broncos.
The Bears have been attempting to correct their own woes at the quarterback position, and Rex Grossman has looked like he has improved over last season. But the young quarterback is still having troubles with taking the snap cleanly from the center, which is something that must drive head coach Lovie Smith nuts......to read rest of article visit NFL News at the Betting DirectoryLabels: betting, football, NFL, sports betting, sportsbooks

2007 NFL Preseason Game: Saints at Chiefs
After struggling to find the end zone in their first two preseason football contests, the New Orleans Saints got their high-powered offense rolling again last Saturday against Cincinnati Bengals. The Saints defeated Cincinnati 27-19 as 3.5-point underdogs after scoring on their first three possessions. The Saints will try to keep their offense moving on Thursday when they head to Kansas City to battle the Chiefs.
In last week's contest Drew Brees had his best football game of the preseason despite throwing to a depleted collection of receivers. Both Marques Colston and Devery Henderson sat out Saturday, Colston to rest some sore legs and Henderson to give an injured hamstring some time to heal. Without his two biggest targets Brees completed 6-of-6 passes for 55 yards in his only series.
Deuce McAllister ended the first drive of the game with a six-yard touchdown run and finished the night with three carries for 15 yards. Reggie Bush also got in on the action with a second-quarter touchdown run, as he ended his night early as well with four carries for 13 yards. Third-string rookie running back Antonio Pittman ran in for a one-yard TD in the fourth quarter as the Saints scored more points against Cincinnati than they had in their first two preseason games combined......to read rest of article visit NFL News at the Betting Directory.

Hall of Fame 2007 NFL Game Preview
It’s almost here!
The 2007 NFL preseason kicks off on Sunday, August 5 when the Pittsburgh Steelers celebrate their 75th anniversary by taking on the New Orleans Saints.
The neutral-site game at Canton, Ohio will mark the first time in more than a decade that the Steelers take to the field without Bill Cowher on the sidelines. New head coach Mike Tomlin will hope to get his career started with a win, but seeing how this is a preseason game, he’ll more likely be happy to get through the game without an injury to one of his key players.
Neither the Steelers nor the Saints made any huge moves on the field during the offseason. The Saints didn’t have much retooling to do after winning the NFC South last year, but the Steelers looked due for a few changes after a disappointing 8-8 season......to read full article visit NFL News at the Betting Directory.

Get Ready for the 2007 NFL Season: NFL offseason moves
The moves that will likely have the biggest impact on how things shake down were made by the New England Patriots. New England must not like watching other AFC teams play in the Super Bowl, because they did all they could to make sure they return to the big show this NFL season. Last season, Tom Brady's receiving corps was very weak. This year he may have too many options when he passes.
The Pats added once-elite wideout Randy Moss, who could be a huge steal if he can revert back to something close to the numbers he produced in Minnesota. Also added were Donte' Stallworth and Wes Welker. Stallworth is a bit of an injury risk, but he's a reliable receiver and a deep threat when healthy. Welker is a great No. 3 receiver because he's quick out of the slot and can find defensive holes. The addition of linebacker Adalius Thomas on defense should improve a Pats' D that was already one of the best in the league......to read rest of this article visit NFL News at The Betting Directory
